OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. — A former Oldham County police officer is facing additional charges for what he has been accused of doing while an officer.
Harry Shane Mosley made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
Mosely resigned from the Oldham County Police Department when he was accused of contacting a girl with sexually oriented phone and text messages.
Now, he’s also charged with trying to give a break to a fellow law enforcement officer.
Mosely is accused of using information he gathered during a traffic stop to contact a female juvenile, and the contact allegedly was sexual in nature and asked the girl to send him a pornographic picture.
He’s facing two other charges related to that incident: unlawful transaction with a minor and official misconduct.
Mosley’s attorney said two more charges have been added.
“It was just dropped on us today. They allegedly involve the arrest of a male suspect that Shane Mosely made as an Oldham County Police Officer,” said Mosley’s attorney, Steve Schroering.
A second official misconduct charge and tampering with public records charge were added over another traffic stop involving a suspected drunken driver identified as a deputy U.S. marshal.
Mosley is free on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
“He’s going through a difficult time right now. He does look forward to all the evidence coming out in these matters. It’s always dangerous to jump to assumption before all the facts come out,” said Schroering.
According to the arrest warrant on the two new charges, a deputy U.S. marshal, identified as Billy Stotts Jr., was involved in a crash and was driving at more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
Mosely took over the investigation, including transporting Stotts to jail.
The arrest warrant said Mosely’s report on the accident falsely stated that Stotts was not suspected of DUI.
According to the records, more than three hours passed from the time the crash run came in to the time Stotts arrived at jail.
