Owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, around 60% of the world’s student population has been affected. Even though schools are closed, students are still being given bulk assignments to solve. They are unsure about how to write an assignment due to a lack of face-to-face interactions with teachers and peers. They are also quite tensed regarding their academic career as schools and universities have been temporarily shut down.

Tests have been called off or deferred

To abide by the social distancing protocol, colleges and schools have postponed tests. Until further notice, all the students have been asked to wait. In addition to this, public exams in 2020 were canceled in all the nations.

As per the official statement of President Trump, all the states canceled standardized tests in the USA. In the UK, authorities have called off SATs Test, GCSE, AS- and A- level exams. To compensate for the loss, Australia has encouraged students to take up short courses like IT, English, Nursing, and Allied Health.

However, some institutions are conducting virtual exams, which the students can take from home. For instance, the British Council is holding the IELTS exam in Asian countries as planned. However, they are taking adequate precautions so that no one contracts the disease.

Dropout rates are likely to increase

Many students belong from African and Asian developing nations. In these countries, schools offer food stamps and mid-day meals to entice the underprivileged children. This step is undertaken by the government to ensure that they break free from the cycle of poverty.

Now, with schools shut, it is feared that the parents might ask their children to get into work. Thus, the dropout rates will increase. In America, poverty-stricken children from Native American, Hispanic, and African-American heritages are also likely to withdraw their names from schools. The same holds good for the rest of the countries around the globe.

Dearth in technology

Most of the remote areas in developing and developed nations are bereft of electricity and network access. Some villages in African countries and Asian nations like Indonesia, India, Philippines do not have access to a proper network or Internet facilities. Thus, children from those regions have been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

They neither have laptops nor smartphones to get in touch with the teachers or participate in virtual classes. However, things are taking a turn for the better. UNESCO, in association with the governments of the nation, is taking initiatives to deliver textbooks and even cellular devices.

Public libraries have opened up doors to their online platforms that the learning process is not hindered. These involve McGill Library, Harvard Library, National Emergency Library, etc. In the meantime, if you are wondering how to write an assignment, you can consider taking the help of professional experts.

Imminent recession and education

Companies and manufacturing industries have incurred losses of millions and above due to the lockdown. As a consequence, many people have lost their jobs. And, the graduates are anxious that they may not be employed this year or the next.

Several teaching and non-teaching staff might lose their posts soon in Australia. It has been predicted that there will be a 16% drop in employment. In addition to this, universities are also sustaining damage as international students are unable to apply. This is because all the international flights had been suspended in the USA, the UK, Australia, etc. until now.

In fact, universities like Deakin University in Australia have extended their helping hands to the students who were stranded. Now, the question arises as to what must students do to make sure that they secure a position in corporate firms?

Steps to be taken by the Graduates

Yes, students are in for a tough ride. But they must not lose hope and should leave no square unexplored. If you are currently in your final year, you should do the following things.

  • Work on projects

Working on projects and publishing your paper is a great option. Since you are at home now, you have ample time. Use the time to enrich your knowledge by going through journals, books, and other published works. With a number of projects under your belt, you are more likely to have the edge over your peers.

  • Take up Online Courses

To make the most of your time, you should pursue extra online courses at Coursera, Codecademy, etc. For instance, if you are studying Computer Science, you can hone your programming skills and venture into AI courses. Also, you can opt for online internships to gain experience in industrial tasks.

  • Do not be Selective While Applying for Job

Students will face a lot of competition in the next few months. Thus, if you want to make it to a company, you should send your resume to almost all the organizations. You must not opt for only the leading organizations. Most importantly, you should try to build connections through online platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn.

As you can see, tough times lie ahead. And, students constantly fear about their academic career. But you should not be pessimistic and instead, work on your shortcomings. And, if you are wondering how to write an assignment, you can consult professional experts.

Summary

The article highlights how the Coronavirus crisis has impacted the education system in all countries. Moreover, if you are a student, you should take a look at the tips to land a fruitful job amid the pandemic.
