A family argument turned violent when a man shot tear gas in his mother’s face while shopping Sunday in Target on Archer Road, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Jedidiah Ashley Reeser, 27, shot tear gas at his mother, Anita Reeser after she placed her hand on him in an argument, deputies said. Jedidiah Reeser, a Trenton resident, was charged with domestic battery.
According to witnesses, Jedidiah Reeser was walking through the store with his wife and claimed his mother and father, Gary Reeser, were following him.
Jedidiah Reeser and his wife, Krystal Reeser, told deputies Reeser’s parents had been “stalking” and “harassing” them. They asked a Target employee to escort them to a phone where they could call police, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
When Jedidiah Reeser was escorted to the phone, his mother placed a hand on him, prompting Reeser to pull out tear gas and spray her, deputies reported.
After viewing surveillance videos, deputies said they witnessed Reeser’s father, Gary Reeser, grab his son after the tear gas was sprayed. A Target employee broke up the scuffle, deputies said.
Anita Reeser, 54, was transported to Shands at the University of Florida after the incident, according to a report.
